Edward Willerton-Gill

Aston-on-Trent | Died in 2009

In memory of 19-year-old Edward Willerton-Gill, who died at home in Aston-on-Trent, Derbyshire, in April, 2009.

His father Steve Gill remembered him as a "happy, creative person".

"He had everything going for him.

"He was about to go to university, he loved his music and he was so naturally talented."

Assistant Deputy Coroner Michael Bird told his inquest hearing: "He seemed to be a good friend to a lot of people and it is even sadder when a life ends so early."

Earlier in the year, a group of Edward's friends and former bandmates organised a concert in his honour.

The gig raised cash for a fund set up by Edward's parents which would be used to help young musicians.

Edward was also survived by Steve's wife, Sharon Willerton.

Your Memories

My whole childhood was spent growing up with Ed so my memories of him are endless. I suppose building dens together at the back of grandpas forge and doing the well-dressing at Aston are my fondest.

One time we were at a show working an old bellow to make fire pokers when the damn thing exploded we got loads of people round when that happened!
